Dartmouth College

About Dartmouth "Welcome to Dartmouth. Our focus is providing the best possible undergraduate education, with a faculty committed to teaching as well as to research. We also offer world-class professional schools—the Tuck School of Business, Thayer School of Engineering, and Dartmouth Medical School—and outstanding graduate programs in the arts and sciences. But we're more than just a collection of schools–we're a community like no other. Our alumni, faculty, students, and staff share a passion for this institution that is unparalleled. Since I became Dartmouth's seventeenth president in July 2009, I've come to understand and share this passion. At Dartmouth, people are forging close connections. Intense involvement in athletics, service, and other activities fosters collaboration and camaraderie. Our students enjoy personal contact with faculty both in and out of the classroom. Undergraduates have the opportunity to conduct original research and work one-on-one with faculty who are at the leading edge of their fields. This unique level of personal interaction and the opportunity to create new knowledge is a signature of our graduate and professional programs as well. All of this takes place in an ideal environment for learning. Located on the Connecticut River and surrounded by the White Mountains, our campus offers the most beautiful natural scenery in the Ivy League. But our reach extends far beyond Hanover. With two-thirds of Dartmouth students taking part in our 60 foreign–study and exchange programs, the world is our campus. Our intimate setting encourages focus. Programs in Hanover and abroad encourage a global perspective. It’s a powerful combination. I came to Dartmouth to be more effective at making the world a better place. I believe that thousands of young people, armed with the best training and the conviction that they can do anything, can take on any challenge and solve our most complex problems. At Dartmouth, we set very high aspirations, and what we do has a global impact. Together, we will do things the likes of which the world has never seen."
